As the Sumerians six thousand years ago our timekeeping pieces are evolving trough our days, some of them will last for many years, this could be defined as a Zeit (in German) a epoch-defining time measuring instrument.

The UR-1001 is true Zeit Device conceived to  measure and quantify the era entirely. Marks the passage of time in seconds, minutes, hours, day/night, date, month years, 100 years and 1000 years!!!  a breakthrough in timekeeping pieces in our days, simply fascinating.

In the face this amazing piece have a day night indicator market with a rotating disc brushed with ruthenium for day and luminova for nights, the power reserve is marked by a traditional hand with the red zone to alert the owner that the 39 Hours reserve is running out.

The calendar is inspired by the earlier models of the satellite complications in Urwerk models UR-202 and UR-203 that’s adjusts automatically when the month have 30 or 31 days thanks to the 93 teeth wheel, this calendar truly gives an spectacular view of the watch front.

The hour is marked also with the satellite system that provides a continuous look an line in the watch combining precision and gorgeous esthetic with the calendar.

If this has make you want this watch you should be prepared to review the backside with is (in hour opinion) even more spectacular than the front.

All manufactured in-house by urwerk most of the components in this watch such as the main plate, carrousels, satellites, dials, bridges,, and others are made from ARCAP, with is a group of  alloys that do not contain iron and so are non magnetic, this provides much more stable and accurate movements against temperatures and time.

The case has his peculiarity also made of AITiN coated stainless steel witch is an alloy of Aluminum Titanium Nitride, that increase oxidation resistance and hardness.

The watch contains 51 jewels, 39 power reserve and of course is a limited edition of 8 pieces, there is not any information yet about  the availability or the price but we`ll keep you posted as soon as it get out.

UNIQUE BEAUTY AND COMPLEXITY: ZENITH CHRISTOPHE COLOMB

A watch that impresses not only by his complexity and amazing mechanical achievement but the beauty of his essence and design.

The decision to name this piece after the 15th century explorer is related to the complexity that faced the sailors at that time, to achieve precision measurement  with instruments  that are subject to constant motion that is demerital to their accuracy.

The best position for an escapement is the horizontal position witch ensures the best amplitude for the balance and this makes gravity to be perpendicular to the components, that way doesn’t disturb the rotation.

The magnificent gyroscopic tourbillon that rotates inside the double sapphire glass keeps is position always horizontal thanks to the model based on the  “cardan suspension” on gimbals, a type of universal joint in a shaft that enables it to rotate when out of alignment like a ship pitching and rolling on the waves.

This Cardan suspension has now inspired the ZENITH movement design engineers in seeking to compensate for the effects of gravity on the precision of the wristwatch.

Manufacture Zenith decided to ensure that the regulating organ and the escapement remains always horizontal, impressive.

Took 5 years to finally accomplishing the incredible The development of  this movement containing 166 components (a regular tourbillon have  approximately 66 components) 45 jewels, 36,000VPH and 50 hours power reserve.

The beautiful 45mm diameter case comes in white, rose or yellow gold with the dial adorned with guilloche motif, small seconds at 9 o’clock and power reserve form 2 to 4 o`clock.

This incredible pieces has being considered by Zenith as the ultimate evolution in comparison to the existing tourbillon systems and for us is a most have of course if you have 209,000.00 CHF to get one of the 250 pieces made world wide.

hope you enjoy this one and keep sending us your comments and suggestions.

URWERK A FUTURISTIC ANCIENT DESING

We decided to go with one of the most revolutionary brand in the last decade, Urwerk`s dream was born in 1995 of the brilliant minds of Felix and Thomas Baumgartner two brothers and amazingly talented watchmakers and Martin Frei artist and designer, the common passion on the time design was the result of the foundation in 1997of this unique brand.
From 1195 to 1997 Martin designed the sketches for the pieces and the Baumgartner brother dedicated their minds to solve the  technical aspects of the movement  and complication. Inspired by the 17 century Campanus Night clock, the team aimed to distil timekeeping to its very essence, to calm the perception of time by removing all extraneous indications and distractions.

The night clock was created in 1656 by the Campanus brothers for Pope Alexander XII, in this piece they replaced the conventional hands for figures on rotating discs, with performed a semicircular arc across the rock face
The name is quite peculiar URWERK, well actually if formed by two words, UR as the ancient city of the Sumerians that contribute to the world declaring that the passage of these shadows through the course of one year should be partitioned into12 units, thus laying the foundation for a system of timekeeping which has endured to this day, and the word WERK that in German means to work, evolve, well this guys clearly evolved thing around the watchmaking industry.
Urwerk is a brand like never seen before, with a unique taste for design and an incredible mechanism that have features like an oil change indicator and a horological odometer with indication of 150 years quite amazing don’t you think?

The pieces in Urwerk collection are:
UR-CC1- ALTIN

UR-202S

UR-203

UR-202

UR-103T

UR103

UR-110

THE NEW COLOSUS: FRAN MULLER GIGA TOURBILLON

Introducing the latest Frank Muller colossus, the giga tourbillon, this piece main character is the huge 20mm Tourbillon in the base of the watch, equally impressive is the 15mm wheel of the Tourbillon and the case size of 41.4 x 34.40 mm and 5,30 mm height.

Due the size of the tourbillon the power for this watch need is much ore than the usual, based on that need the Frank Muller team worked in a new system powered by four barrel witch are first paired in series to double the operating reserve and then assembled parallel to one another so that the power of the movement is doubles, genius don’t you think?

Another peculiarity in this pieces is that the movement has been reversed so the setting and winding section is located at the base and the hour hand is positioned on top of the minute hand.
This Watch contains a full 10 days power reserve, and to achieve this the Frank Muller team has design this tourbillon to feature 4 barrels instead of the traditional two, and the wheel as is so big it moves with more energy that preserves it from the shocks  and stabilizes  the operation  y the frequency of the oscillation, pure high tech!

The general and technical aspects about this watch are the FM2100 caliber with 10 days power reserve, 240 components and 29 jewels, available in white gold, black PVD and diamonds version.
The price: starting at 218,000.00 CHF not bad

21 BLACKJACK BY CHRISTOPHE CLARET

Last Basel Fair we witness the launch of an amazing piece, the 21 blackjack by Christophe Claret, Claret  was born in the Lyons area of France and studies watchmaking in Geneva before beginning his carrier as an antique watch restorer, in 1989 he founded his company with another two masters of the watchmaking industry, Giulio Papi and Dominique Renaud, and for the next 20 years he spent his time working for the most prestigious  brands and high-end clientele.

In 2009, the 20th anniversary of his company, Christophe Claret introduced the DualTow, an extraordinary mechanical showcase of his skill. This first complete watch led to a second, the Adagio, and now a third – the 21 Blackjack.

This last masterpiece the 21 blackjack arrives with the process of creating a new watchmaking style: the interactive watch, it contains 3 different casino games. To start there is Dice. This game features a pair of miniature dice, 1.5 mm on each side – and incidentally, perfectly legible – which are located in a cage at the 4 o’clock position on the side of the case and, visible through a sapphire crystal, offering the oldest game of chance. When shaken in their tiny capsule, the dice can be used by one or more players, for a game of craps, for example.

Next, roulette: on the back of the watch the winding rotor, which is visible through a glareproofed sapphire crystal, serves as the roulette wheel. Once set in motion by one or two undulatory movements, the wheel turns for a few moments before stopping. “Place your bets! The bets are down! No more bets!” Here there is no ball, however, but an arrow inlaid into the winding rotor that stops at one of the 37 numbers (from 0 to 36) applied to an internal flange. “Eight, black, even and low!” Your lucky number? If it were, a special key would have been used to place it opposite a green emerald set into the back – a rather extraordinary custom feature for those who believe in their lucky number. Superstition has its reasons that Reason cannot know…

And finally the BlackJack Game. Until now, no one has ever had the idea and the ability to adapt this complex Blackjack card game to an automaton watch.  On the lower part of the dial, between 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, the player’s four cards appear in windows. Two are visible, the other two hidden by shutters. On the upper part of the dial are three additional windows for the dealer’s cards, one of which is visible, the other two also hidden by shutters.

Playing could not be easier! A pushpiece at 9 o’clock arms a spring that triggers, all at once, the seven discs on which the cards are printed. Made of solid gold to impart the ideal weight and inertia, these discs each rest on a double set of ceramic ball bearings. After a few seconds, they are randomly stopped by a jumper-spring. The extremely delicate symbols and numbers on each card are made with successive transfers, requiring that they be fired in a dedicated oven once for each colour.

At this stage of the game, three cards are face up: two of the player’s cards and one of the dealer’s. The next step is delightful. If the player is going to hit, he presses the pushpiece at 8 o’clock, engraved with the word “player.” One of the shutters then opens, revealing his card, and at the same time, in a supremely refined touch, a bell rings to indicate “hit.” Each time a shutter opens, whether for the player or the dealer, the note will sound. The striking mechanism’s hammer and bell are visible through a side window at 2 o’clock.

When the player’s turn is over, the dealer can take a turn, always following the strict rule “Dealer must draw on 16 and stand on 17” – a rule which is even written out on a small plaque affixed to the dial in one version of the 21 Blackjack! The dealer operates the pushpiece marked “dealer” at 10 o’clock to open one of the two shutters. Now all that remains is to count up the points and determine the winner. The dealer has some 216 different card combinations; the player no less than 4096; for a total of 884,736 ways to win or lose.

This Manufacture Calibre BLJ08 is a self-winding COSC chronometer-certified movement comprising 501 parts and two barrels ensuring a power reserve of about 72 hours. In addition to the casino games and chime, it displays hours and minutes. To ensure extreme accuracy, it operates at a frequency of 4 hertz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour.

The price:  from 178,000.00 CHF up to 210,000.00 CHF depending on the case material

Hope you liked this one, we live you with the official video for this piece, amazing!
